We’re going to have a packed weekend in Topeka, but I think we can squeeze a tweetup in there somewhere. We’re going to arrange a Tweetup at the Farmers Market in Topeka Kanas the 17^th from 8-10:30.

Have you heard of a Twestival?

From what I’ve read on it, it’s a cause to help out the Lawrence humane society. Advocating for Animal Welfare & Providing Humane Sheltering, Pet Adoptions, Lost & Found Programs, Emergency Rescues, Cruelty Investigations, Humane Education, Liason & Outreach. It looks like it’s going on September 10^th, from 6-10pm at 724 Massachusetts Street, in Lawrence KS. You might say, this is a TopekaTweetup site, why are you talking about Lawrence? The Lawrence tweetup has been going on longer then the Topekatweetup, and it’s ran by some great people, this is my way to support them. I’ll try to make it up that way, it would be great to see some Topeka tweeple there.

The Downtown Topeka Farmers Market presents a wonderful variety of Home grown foods and hand made goods. The local growers, producers and farmers offer vegetables, fruits, herbs, bulbs, grains, meats, bedding plants and water plants.

A talented group of artists and crafts people sell outstanding, outdoor related goods.
If all of this shopping works up your appetite, you are in luck! The Market food vendors provide an assortment of delicious meals to eat at the market along with freshly home made baked goods, jellies, etc.

The Topeka Farmers Market is a must see attraction in Topeka and that is why we are picking it for our next Tweetup.
We are going to meet in front the PT’s Coffee, they’ll be setup in the north row, closest to the capitol August 22nd. The market opens at 7:30, but we’ll meet around 9:30 and then split up and check out the goods. There will be a good turnout just from the market; I’d love to see 30+ new people out just from the Tweetup that hadn’t checked out the Farmers Market before.

I’ve been playing around with Tweetboard for a month now and was actually the first alpha tester to use it on a live website. Since then, it’s been featured on mashables and even listed in the official Twitter blog! I think it’s a great application which will allow threaded conversations that anyone can participate in. Here is a short video on what tweetboard is and how we can use it for the Topeka tweeple.

We will get half the patio, I would of reserved the whole thing, but I would need to confirm 60 people would show up. With this being the first Tweetup that I’ve helped setup, I didn’t want to commit something that I was unsure I could fulfill.

A tweetup is an event where people who Twitter come together to meet in person. Normally we connect with our friends online after we have met them. At a tweetup you meet the people you might only otherwise know virtually. Like finally putting a name to a face, a tweetup is a great opportunity to really connect with the people in your network and share just a little more than 140 characters at a time.
